Sunset in Niger Delta- I Am Enthralled
The depressed sky is torn,
A long slit forms,
A slit of pink rim and bright yellow and white core,
Reposed in a backdrop of a charming sky-blue,
All resting on a skyline set with low mangrove shrubs,
and an earth draped with a rug of thick white sand.
With its bulging head, the setting sun peeps,
A quick glance at our sorry earth it seems,
Yet a smile on its face there is…
To me he smiles,
His smile I mime,
At this my hope arise:
Though black and bland become my skies,
On faith my light shall find a stand.
