Idanre Lights up with Mare Festival Day-1
Mare Festival…
…beginning of beautiful things in Idanre.
Big clouds of smooth and dry dust coloured the skies of Methodist Grammar School, Idanre, in Ondo State. Sitting at the foot of the massive Ojimoba mountain, the ancient school is the venue of this year’s Mare Festival and the steep slopes of Ojimoba itself is the challenge confronting the participating mountain climbers (both local and international).
The canopies, chairs and stage had been set. suddenly the village kids erupted into a melodious cacophony. Their teeth shining as they all ran in tandem to welcome visitors.
Mountain climbers from (from within Nigeria, South Africa and Spain) also arrived at the venue, as well as notable Nollywood Stars. The villagers were especially attracted to the movie stars.
The event was later kicked off and various cultural troops entertained the guests.
Mare Festival (Marathon race – Art and Culture – Rock climbing – Exhibition) is definitely proving to be an exciting event. Day 2 and day 3 shall feature mountain climbing; marathon, musical concert etc.
Events of Day two shall be published soon.
