Friday- From our rendezvous point in Victoria Island, Lagos, the tour group will travel down to the old city of Akure in Ondo State, Southwest Nigeria, to visit the ancient Oba’s Palace of Akure which is well known for its legendary and ingenious ancient drainage architecture; after which the group will make a quick visit to the ‘newly discovered’ Akure Moat. Saturday- The group will set out early in the morning to visit the mountain town of Idanre and join the locals in celebrating the Mare Mountain Climbing Festival. The festival features various cultural performances, rock climbing competitions, village-to-village marathon competition etc. While the festival is on, the tour group will hike up the magnificent Idanre Mountain to visit the preserved relics of Old Oke-Idanre Village where the people lived before migrating down to the foot hills, which is the present location of idanre town. The tour group will then proceed to explore the legendary Owa Cave, located in the hills, and reputed to be one of the largest caves in the mountain. The cave has a beautiful stream spring from within it.

The tour group will also have the chance to visit Omi-Iwo Cave, a smaller but unique cave, located within Idanre town itself, and well known for the therapeutic powers possessed by a small stream which flows from within it. The tour group will then return to Akure town to spend the night.
